Waste Water Treatment Plant

Our Waste Water Treatment is permitted to treat 1.6 million gallons per day. We are a regional treatment plant that serves Wayne and Duplin Counties. The plant is monitored and operates 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Water from the plant can be discharged in the Cape Fear River Basin at a rate of 1.0 million gallons per day while .6 million gallons per day can be discharged onto the Town's farm. There are 125 wetted acres in which the effluent from the treatment plant can be applied to the 86,000 trees that are maintained by plant staff. The town has partnered with NC State and other agencies in doing studios to see what environmental impacts the treatment water has on the trees and plants on the farm.
